Ingredient

Maple Syrup

Maple syrup is a concentrated sugar solution in water. It's made by boiling sap from sugar maple or red maple trees.

The sap is collected by tapping holes into the wood of the tree, and collecting the sap in buckets. The water is then evaporated out of the sap using special pans, usually over a wood fire.

The boiling process caramelizes the sugars in the sap, giving maple syrup its rich flavor and color.
